New Study Shows EFT is Superior to Exposure Therapy for PTSD, Anxiety and Depression

A randomized controlled trial that was recently published compared EFT to Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). The investigators gave 60 traumatized male Iraqi students either EFT, NET, or no treatment. They found that “EFT was more effective than NET,” It produced steeper reductions in PTSD symptoms, and the results held over time. EFT was also significantly more effective than NET at reducing anxiety and depression symptoms. This study is important because Exposure Therapy is one of only three therapies validated as effective for PTSD by a US government commission, and showing that EFT produces better results paves the way for the validation of EFT by the government as well.
